CE Group was founded in 1973 as Compton Engineering, on the principle of bringing quality engineering to the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Compton Engineering initially concentrated on civil engineering type projects, including the design of utility type projects for both public and private clients. In the years following, Compton Engineering’s client base and client needs continued to grow, as did the firm. In 1993, office locations expanded to Bay St. Louis, Mississippi to better serve the needs of our clients in the southwest region of the State. In 1999, CE Group expanded once more and the Biloxi, Mississippi office was opened. In 2023, marking 50 years in business, Compton Engineering changed its name to CE Group.
Over the years, our firm has developed into a diversified firm with over 20 local employees offering expertise in various disciplines of professional services including civil, structural, environmental, planning, modeling, estimating, scheduling, surveying, project management, construction management, energy management, operation and maintenance as well as other administrative services. CE Group’s past success is attributed to dedicated service to our clients, our community, and our employees. We have always put our local clients first, and will continue to do so, no matter the type, size, or complexity of a project. We have a proven track record in a wide array of projects from very small to extremely large and take pride in treating every client and project with the highest level of professionalism possible.
Before Lloyd J. Compton, P.E. began operations of the present company, which was established in Pascagoula, Mississippi, he was a partner in the consulting firm of Gautier and Compton. In 1980, CE Group later became a partnership between Lloyd J. Compton, P.E. and his son L. David Compton, P.E., who moved from Port Arthur, Texas to assist his father in running the family business.
L. David Compton, P.E., a second generation Compton Engineering executive, has been instrumental in the growth and success of CE Group over the past several decades. David officially retired at the end of 2021, however, he still serves as a Board member and trusted advisor to the firm. David continues to provide support and direction incorporating the same basic principles of honesty and integrity that his father used when he started the company.
Geoffrey F. Clemens, P.E., with almost 30 years of service to CE Group, has been promoted to the position of President and is assisting in moving our firm into the future. His initiatives include a focus on new technology, innovative processes, and friendly professional work environment for our employees. It is an exciting time for CE Group as we make long-lasting relationships and build stronger bonds with customers, employees, contractors, and the communities we serve.
